HOW TO GET KIDS EXCITED FOR THE FOURTH

HOW TO GET KIDS EXCITED FOR THE FOURTH

All proud American citizens will be dawning red, white, and blue on the Fourth of July. The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, marks the date when the Declaration of Independence came to be and the 13 states subsequent freedom from Britain. Everyone has their own family traditions for this patriotic holiday, including us at AlessiaAdora.

In this blog post, we want to give you an idea for a cute DIY Fourth of July backyard decoration, and how to involve your kids in the festivities.

GET THE KIDS INVOLVED IN THE FUN

There are many ways to help get kids excited about this star-studded holiday – but some fun history lessons and cooking are the best ways.

SHARE FUN FACTS

A history lesson doesn’t always have to be boring facts that we learn in our textbooks. You can share interesting tidbits that many people don’t know.

For example:

Did you know that our second president John Adams believed that Independence Day should be celebrated on the second instead of the fourth? This was because July second was the day Continental Congress voted for independence in 1776.

With all the facts your children learn, you can later play a game of trivia while waiting for the spectacular holiday fireworks.

FLAG FRUIT TRAY

It can be hard to get little ones involved in the holiday cook preparations due to all the safety hazards – but there are some things they can do, including setting up the food.

All you will need to do is cut up some strawberry or raspberry for your child and supply them with a few handfuls of blueberries. Then you can instruct them to place the fruit in the colors and patterns on the U.S. flag. Both of these things are easy and fun ways you can get your kids excited for one of the most patriotic holidays of the year.

LET’S GET CRAFTY

The Fourth of July is a great time to make outdoor décor crafts. An easy and affordable craft you can do with your children is tin can flags.

All you need is:

  • Tin Can
  • Red and White Ribbon
  • Blue and White Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • A Drill
  • Glue
  • Fishing Line

Step one:

Drill two parallel holes in the bottom of your can – this is so you can put your fishing line through to hang it outside later.

Step two:

Paint your can. First, take your blue paint and paint the entire can. After that dries, you will want to take your white paint and draw stars or dots.

Step three:

Cut your ribbons into long strips and apply them around the inner perimeter of the can using your glue.

Step four:

Last but not least, string your fishing line through the two holes and hang your tin flag on your back deck. Crafting doesn’t get any easier than this.

HAPPY FOURTH EVERYONE

AlessiaAdora wants to wish you a happy Fourth of July! Remember to stay safe and have fun this holiday.
